TASK 4: REFLECTION

Well, a few months of English have past, and in this task I’m going to do some reflections about how the English has been so far.
First I have to say that I think it’s kinda stupid that we just have English once a week. I actually like the English subject, but I wish we could have it another time than the last two hours on Tuesday. This is a really long and exhausting day, and I don’t think I’m the only one to be a bit tired and not so focused at the end of that thay! But enough about that.
As I said, I like the English subject, and I know that it is very important to learn English! It is important to be able to understand and speak English, especially when you are travelling to other countries. It is also a good thing to know some English when to watch movies and listen to music.
I think the English so far has been good, and we have done a lot of different things. We have been reading, writing, watched a movie, had group work and learn some grammar. We have also been blogging, something I was a bit uncertain about at first. But I actually think it has been a good way to work with English! But when I look true my blog now, I can see that some off my tasks are been a bit short..
After Christmas I’m hoping to improve both my writing skills and my oral skills. Especially my oral skills! I always get nervous when we have presentations in front of the class, and this is something I have to work with. I also have to get better at speaking English, and pronouncing the words right. When it comes to writing I have to improve the grammar, and I have to get better at writing stories and things like that.

TASK 3: CANADA

Canada is on the continent of South America, and is the second largest country in the world (9 984 670 square km). The country has two official languages, English and French.
Over 33 million people live in Canada, and the capital city is Ottawa.
Canada became a country in 1867, and the first people who lived there were the Aborigines. The native people did invent one of the biggest sports in Canada, Lacrosse. The sports play an important part in the lives of Canadians, and Ice Hockey is very popular, and has been called “more of a religion than a sport”.
They have a lot of different animals in Canada, over 209 species. Many of them are very uncommon, like polar bears, caribou, bison, walruses and skunks. Canada’s national animal is the beaver.
The reason I chose to write about Canada, is because I didn’t know much about it and it sounded like an interesting country.

DAY OFF FROM SCHOOL

Today we have the day off from school, and it couldn’t be better! I slept until half past ten, because I had an appointment with the dentist half past twelve. I didn’t take very long, and my teeth looked good!
After I got home I have just been relaxing, and watching Desperate Housewives and One Tree Hill. My absolute favourite TV-series!
Yesterday I attended an hour at Elixia with Amina, Maiken, Marie and Fia. We attended something called yogalates, which is a type of body and mind training. It was very good training, but since there were a lot of movements I’m not used to, my muscles are very stiff today!

WORKOUT AND SHOPPING

School today was okey, and we could go home about half past one. I went strait to Elixia with Amina, and we worked out for about an hour. Then I went home to take a shower, before we went to Fredrikstad to do some shopping! We went to Torvbyen, a big shopping mall. It has just been reopened, and they have a lot of new stores. They have also finally gotten Gina Tricot, which is my favorite store! I bought a Christmas gift for my mom, and some more calendar gifts for my sister. Amina bought herself a nice sweater from Gina!

OSLO TRIP AND LUCIA CELEBRATIONS

I didn’t have time for any blogging yesterday, because we got home very late. But we had a really nice trip to Oslo, and I bought a sweater, a jacket, a pair of shoes and a scarf. We also went to look at the Christmas Marked, and ate on Peppes.
Today was my sister’s turn to get a calendar gift, and she got a toilet map. :-) I got a pair of earrings yesterday btw!

School was actually kinda nice today. We did some tasks at the beginning of the day, and after that we baked and made cacao! We did it as an early Lucia celebration, because we are learning about Santa Lucia and traditions.
Now I’m just sitting in the sofa with my computer, and watching some Desperate Housewives episodes. I’m not quite sure what I’m going to do later today, but I might work out with Karola and Amina.

1. DECEMBER

Anette got the first calendar gift today! It was a sweet Hello Kitty lipgloss. Tomorrow is my turn, and I wonder what she has bought for me.
Now I’m sitting at school writing some tasks about dance and movement for children. Later today I’m going to workout at Elixia with Amina, and do some homework. We have a lot of homework these days, and I’m really looking forward to the holiday!
I’m also going to watch the Christmas calendar on TV :- )
Tomorrow I’m taking the train to Oslo with my mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and cousins. We are going to visit one of my cousins who go to school there, and of course do some shopping. I will write more about that tomorrow when I get home.

MONDAY

Today started as usual with school. And since today is Monday, the day started with four hours Health. That is usually kinda boring, but today we watched a movie called Rainman. It was a very good movie, with great actors!
When I got home I watched an episode of Desperate Housewives. That is my favorite TV program, and I have all the seasons. I can watch them over and over again, and I never get tired of the funny housewives and all the stupid things they do.
Later I worked a few hours on my dads office. I helped him with some paperwork, and wrote some diagrams. I started working there today, and I am going to work some hours now and then before Christmas. That is a good way to get some more work experience, and earn some money!

BIRTHDAY

Finally Friday! This has been a long week with a lot of tests at school. But today is Friday, and it’s just two hours until we can go home. It is also only tree weeks left before Christmas vacation. Jeey!

Tonight we are going to celebrate Fia’s birthday! She is turning seventeen, and the girls are gathering at her place to celebrate. I’m not quite sure what we are going to do, but I think it will just be a quiet evening with pizza, movies and girl talk! It is always nice when the girls are together, and I think we are going to have a lot of fun!

A LONG WEDNESDAY

This has been a really long Wednesday! Usually we can go home from school half past one on Wednesdays, but today we had a big test in gym, and weren’t finished before three o’clock.
After school I went to Østfoldhallen with Karola. That is a big shopping mall in Fredrikstad. We just looked at some clothes, and I bought some calendar gifts for my younger sister. You see, we have this system where we buy calendar gifts for each other. We buy twelve gifts each, and give each other a little gift every other day. It is just small things like makeup, earrings, nail polish, facemasks etc. But it is a nice Christmas tradition that we like to hold on to!
Btw, it is just five days to December! I love the holidays, and look forward to Christmas decorations and Christmas music!

TASK 1: WRITING A NEWS ARTICLE!

MEETING PEOPLE ONLINE

In today’s community a lot of people meet others on the internet. This can be a good way to make new friends, but it can also be very dangerous. What if the person you meet is nothing like the one he claims to be?

Internet is the new meeting place, and people from all over the world have facebook or twitter. This can be a good place to meet old friends, and also make some new. It can be a good place to communicate with your friends, share pictures and other things. But be aware! The nice young boy you see at the screen can just as well be and old man trying to exploit you. I mean, how can you really know that a person you have never met is telling the truth? That he isn’t just using a fake picture to get attention?
My opinion is that you should be careful about talking to people you don’t really know, and who doesn’t have any common friends with you. You shouldn’t share too much with them, and if you are planning on meeting them, never meet them alone! Bring some of your friends, in case he isn’t the one he intended to be.

ABOUT MYSELF

My name is Malin, and I am 17 years old. I live in Fredrikstad, and go to Greåker vgs. This is my English blog, were I'm going to write my English tasks.
I live at home with my parents, and my younger sister. She is 14 years old, and looks alot like me. In my sparetime I like to workout at Elixia, and be with my friends and family. When I am being with my friends, we like to watch
movies, go to shoppingmalls, workout, go to parties and things like that.
