Last day of the two weeks in practice! I think the weeks have gone by fast, and I have learned a lot and gotten a lot of new experiences. I have gotten two know the children and the teachers, the school routines and the subjects they usually have. I am looking forward to be here every Tuesday until the end of April.
This day has been a normal Friday on Hauge. We have been having station teaching, and the children have been separated into five groups. They have been switching between Math, Computer work, Drawing, Reading and Writing. I have been helping the Math group, and we have been playing Yatzy!
Since it is Friday, most of the children on SFO have been watching a movie. The others has just been making some Easter decorations, and playing outside.

HAUGE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL 18.03.10
Today I am really exhausted, so I won’t be writing so much. It has been a typical day on Hauge today, with usual subjects like Norwegian, Math, Art and Religion. I have just been helping the children like I use to do, and been outside with them. All the children have been very exited today, because the school is arranging disco tonight!
It has been very quiet on SFO today, and we have just been playing and drawing with the children.

Another practice day is over, and it is Wednesday already. The day has been OK, and I was very happy when I found out that we shouldn’t go on any trip today. Usually Wednesdays in second grade are spend outside in the forest, but today we stayed at school. I think that was good, because it was very cold outside. We have just been doing Math, English and Music. After the lunch break, the boys were inside using the computer, and the girls were outside playing ball. And that was not easy! They were just fighting, jelling at each other, and couldn’t agree on anything. Some of the girls wanted to decide everything, like what the teams should be, who should start with the ball and other things. That made some of the other girls angry, and they didn’t want to play with them. So it was more fighting and disagrees, then it was playing.. But when the boys should play everything went fine, and they just played and had fun.
On SFO today we made some more Easter decorations :-)

Another Tuesday at Hauge elementary School. I started the day with inspection, before the classes started 08.45. We hade Norwegian and Math in the beginning of the day, before we made some Easter decorations. After lunchtime and break, we had Religion and English. It was a lot of noise in the end of the day, and almost all the children were very distraught. But it the day went by pretty fast, and the weather was very nice! The school day was over about 13.45.
On SFO I helped with the food, and cut some fruit. I also helped some of the children with their homework, before we went out to be in the beautiful weather!

After the break we had some more Norwegian and after that we learned about subtraction in Math. The weather has been very nice today, so we had an hour outside. The children played and had fun, before we had some reading in the end of the day.

Last day before the weekend! The day has gone by pretty fast, and the children were divided into different groups today. Some has been working on the computer, some has been doing math, others has been reading or writing and some has been working with art. I have helped those who has been writing and working on the computer. Since it was Friday, the children on SFO watched a movie named “Alvin og gjengen” and ate popcorn.
I think the first week on Hauge has gone by pretty fast. I am starting to know the school, and I have learned the name of all the children in my class. I have also learned their Schedule, their routines and how they work. I am looking forward to a new week, with new opportunities! :)

This has been a good, but also a very cold day! Wednesday is second grades outside day, so we have been taking a trip to the forest. And it was lots of snow! We walked to a little “cabin”, and made a fire where we could grill hotdogs and drink cocoa. The children had fun and played in the snow. Some of them very really cold, and just wanted to go home. And others didn’t want to go home at all! When we got home from the trip, some of the children went home and someone stayed to be on SFO. There we made Easter decorations and played games. My day was over about four o’clock.

HAUGE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL 09.03.10
I started to work 08.30 today, and had inspection until the classes started 08.45. Usually the children can choose to start between 08.15 and 08.45, but on Tuesdays the classes doesn’t start before 08.45. In the beginning of the day they had Norwegian, where they read a text and answered some questions. After that they had some English, were they all got an English name and learned some new words. They did also have Math and Religion. I have just been helping the children, talking with them and been outside with them. One thing I learned today was that the children don’t always hear the whistle (or wants to hear the whistle), which tells them that the break is over. And when they don’t show up, we have to go look for them. And they can be everywhere! Two of the boys where climbing some trees behind the school, and some of the girls were playing on the other side of the school. And of course they hadn’t heard the whistle, according to them..

HAUGE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL 08.03.10
Today was the second day of my practice period. I am in practice in an elementary school named Hauge, and I work in the second grade. The first two days has been most about getting to know the school and the children. I am trying to learn most of their names, so I can talk to them and get to know them. I am also helping those who need it. I do also have inspection when the children has break. That means that I am out with the children, making sure that everything is ok, and telling them when the break is over.
When the school is over, I work in SFO. That is an arrangement for the children after school, where they can stay until their parents gets home from work. They can choose what they want to do, from drawing, playing games, being outside and other activities.
